Limited Time Only

I really hate that I don't have a lot of time for my blog right now.  School just started and between lesson plans and my certification classes, I barely have time for myself.  Please don't leave me faithful followers.  I will at least try to post pics when I style my hair.  Things will look better in a few weeks when I'm caught up with everything.  I love you guys (ladies)!

Mega Tek Experiment: Month 1

It's been exactly one month since I got the Mega Tek I ordered and started using it.  I've applied almost every night  for the past 30 days to my hair line.  I didn't expect to see any results and I don't.  But I'm not discouraged.  I know it's going to take time because the thinning didn't  occur overnight.

I don't see any difference. I figured if I saw some progress this soon, this stuff would be flying off the shelves!  Has anyone else tried this stuff?  If so, what has been your results so far?

New Job Curls

So, I got a new job (a job I wanted) which is truly a blessing in today's economy.  Thank you JESUS!!  (It's a science teacher position in a local school disrict.  I start on August 4th).
Anyway, I was stressing about my hair because I had to go fill out paper work and take my ID picture for my new job last Monday (7/19 actually).  My hair needed to be washed (and a retwist wouldn't hurt) but I was being so lazy.  I still had curls left so this is how my ID pic turned out:

The picture doesn't look bad but my scalp was nasty.  So I ended up washing my hair Monday evening (7/19) even though I didn't feel like it.  And I didn't really know what I planned to do with it.  On one hand, I wanted curls but didn't really feel like rolling it.  On the other hand, I wanted to retwist it but I didn't feel like doing that either. Doing both would have taken TOO long.  So I just washed and conditioned then braided it into 8 big braids for a lazy braidout.

My hair was nice and soft and shiny but I didn't like the braidout. (Sorry no pics of the results).  It was too hot to have my hair down but I didn't want to do a ponytail either (I know.  I'm crazy).  So I went ahead and rolled my hair Tuesday night.  I left the pipe cleaners in all day Wednesday and finally took them out Thursday morning in time for new employee orientation.  That's how I got New Job Curls.

I put 2 locs on each pipe cleaner.  And a word of advice:  Don't roll your hair too tight or it will be hard to remove the pipe cleaners.  I was almost late trying to get the things out of my head!!  I've never had that issue before but I know I rolled it really tight.  But as you can tell (if you've been keeping  up with me), I REALLY love this style.  This is how I've worn my hair all summer.  It has kept me cool and it has also kept me from putting my hair in a ponytail. ;)  I gotta come up with something new for the fall/winter.

This post was drafted 2 weeks ago when all of this occured but my pics were on my phone. My phone got  temporarily destroyed when it was accidently dropped in water.  Anyway, no pics=no post.  So this is what my curls look like  now, almost 2 weeks later.

The heat and humidity have caused the curls to fall a LOT. The curls are usually not this loose 2 weeks later.  Oh well.

Where we've been: Mrs. Honey Dip and Mop Head

Biggest regret about my locs: I wish I took more pictures of my loc journey but I didn't. :(   I did find a few pictures of me and my son and I wanna share these with you.

Mop Head in late 2003. He was 5 years old.

This set was started when he was 2 years old.

Mop Head in 2003 again.  His hair was cut (his choice) in January 2004

because haters said he looked like a girl.

This was either late 2004 or early 2005.  Mop Head was in between sets. 

My locs were at least a year old (probably closer to 2 years old).

This was Spring 2007. He was 9 years old.  It was about 4-5 months

before he started his second set of locs.

This was a year later in Spring 2008.  He was 10 years old. 

This set was probably 8-9 months old.

This is where we are today. 

Mop Head is 12 and his second set of locs is almost 3 years old.

My locs are 7 years old.

I just wanted to share part of our journeys with you.  I really wish I could find a picture of my big chop and my baby locs but I seemed to have misplaced them.
