Finally....a post!!

So I've finally done something with my hair that I wanted to post about.  I've just been wearing my hair straight lately.  I washed my hair on Saturday and decided to do a braidout.  I took the braids out last night while watching football (because I knew it would take forever if I waited til this morning).  Here's how it turned out.

I like the results.  My coworkers and students all tried to figure out how I did my hair like this.  They didn't  seem to notice the braids yesterday, I guess because I had them pulled back in a ponytail.  Anyway, I'll probably try something else next weekend for my birthday.  Stay tuned.

I also want to tell you about my little side hustle.  My BFF Kenya has distributed some of the homemade gel I use to retwist my hair.  She uses it for her twist outs and has told some of her natural coworkers about it.  She let them try some from the jar I gave her and they all liked it.  They want to buy some!!  So I've been making hair gel.

It's nothing fancy (as you can see) but it's a quick way for me to make a few bucks every so often.  I have a 8 oz tub for $10 and a 4 oz for $6.  I won't tell you all my ingredients/proportions but I will say that honey gives it the yellow color.  If you're interested in trying some, let me know and we'll work something out.  I might even decide to do a giveaway for my faithful followers.

Til next time, thanks for reading.  Be blessed.  And thanks for hanging in there with me (I even have new followers).  Love ya!!

  1. Thumbs up on the side hustle. Lawd knows I need to find something to supplement my meager income!

Your hair looks lovely. I've been thinking about trying a style on my hair soon...perhaps rodding it...and this post has inspired me to definitely do so.

I also thought about a simple braid out but I'm always worried that my nappy roots will tangle/marry.

  2. Go for it!!
Your 'nappy roots' won't marry if you don't leave the braids in for too long. They may get a little tangled depending on how tight you braid but that shouldn't be a big deal. Just be gentle when you take them out.
