My Mega-Tek Experiment begins

I'm so excited.  My Mega-Tek arrived.  Already!!  I placed the order Monday and the cheapest shipping had it here today (Thursday) via USPS.  Unbelievable.  Anyway, I'm excited to try it and hopefully grow in my busted hairline.  I applied it immediately to this area:
I could put at least 2 locs there!! I really hope this stuff works.  We will see.

So let me give you some preliminary info about Mega-Tek.  Yes, it is a grooming product for animals but it has been used safely on humans.  I found it here.  I bought the 2 oz size but it's also available in a 16 oz size.  I wanted to try it out first.

This product was suggested to me by a lovely follower Foxy not-so Brown. She's not a loc rocker but she has a beautiful head of natural hair.  She also has two wonderful blogs, Target Queen and Rachel Stewart.  Be sure to check her out.  I love her! ;)
The full directions say: Apply to areas  suffering from dry skin conditions or areas with hair loss and to cracked paw pads.  Apply to wet hair for a complete hair conditioner - then rinse out.   Ingredients include deionized water, castor oil, and keratin (among other things).  It also has a fragrance and it smells  really good.  It's very light,
and easy to rub in.

I think I'm going to use this at least every other night when I massage my scalp.  Especially since it's so light.  I'm glad it smells good.  You can't tell it's a product for animals.  I'm also doing other things in my life to help with hair growth.  I'm drinking more water and exercising more.  I'm already taking a multivitamin.  I know this stuff is not a cure all and that I have to do my part to help.  Beautiful inside = beautiful outside.

So I took the pipe cleaners out this evening and I'm rocking my Freedom Curls a little early.  I wanted to leave the pipe cleaners in until tomorrow but they were bothering me.  So now I'm ready for the weekend.
I've found a lot of loose hair between my locs.  It's so soft and fuzzy.  It makes me wanna cut my hair.  Don't worry, I'm not gonna cut it. Yet. ;)  I haven't met my goal yet with this set (breast length) so I'm hanging on until then.  Enough rambling.
Research Mega-tek. Try it. Tell me about it.

Until next time, thanks for reading.  Be blessed.

  1. ive never used that one before, I always get the 16oz rebuilder in the blue bottle...but I think this has the same stuff..
I never rinse mine out, I just apply it to my scalp, massage and work it through my entire head from root to tip, a little goes a long way.
it can be drying so I mix it with some oil.
hope it works, but like with anything you have to be persistant!

  2. According to the website, it's the same stuff. I checked both of them and it appears to be the same other than the size and color of the container.
I wasn't planning to wash it out; just massage into my scalp on a regular basis. I didn't think about applying it to the entire length of hair. I'm not sure how that will work with locs.
I really appreciate your suggestion Foxy and I can't wait to try some of your jewelry (gold afro set. hint, hint)

  3. Hope it works out for you! I've been using mine faithfully for two weeks. I feel like I see progress at my temples which is where I wanted to see growth. I plan to compare for progress after a month. I apply to the scalp and massage at night and then do a co-wash in the morning. Looking forward to seeing your results!

  4. Glad to see you posting about this. I ordered mine last week can't wait to receive it. After having my baby, my hairline and other areas has started thinning. I knew this day would come as this has happened before, I just hope this stuff worksout for you and me. Looking forward to your progress.
